Biography
Ryo Nagamatsu is a Japanese composer and arranger that currently works for the game development company, Nintendo. Since being hired in 2006, Nagamatsu has composed for a number of titles in the Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda game series.
Nagamatsu is a self-taught composer, and had played in an orchestra and in a brass band while in school. This background can be somewhat seen in his musical style with games like Super Mario Galaxy 2 and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, where he uses more of an orchestral style.
In his early years with Nintendo, Nagamatsu had the opportunity to work with and learn from veteran composers such as Shinobu Tanaka, Asuka Hayazaki, and Koji Kondo. His first solo work would be Wii Sports Resort, and since then he has composed and arranged entire soundtracks for a number of big Nintendo games.
